You’ve made the decision to sell your home! Great! Getting your home market ready doesn’t need to be this huge daunting task hanging over your head. Read on to discover 5 ways you you can make your home appealing to potential buyers.
1. Declutter and Organize
I believe that hiring a professional would be the best practice here. You need to clear all surfaces, organize books, organize closets, and do some rearranging so that everything looks clean and in order so that the buyer can imagine themselves living in the home. You might even need to take out certain items that crowd the space and put them in storage. Professional Staging is one of the most effective ways to sell a home. The upfront cost is minimal compared to what you will make from the house.

2. The Kitchen
People love gathering in the kitchen as it is usually a place of activity. For that reason, we want a potential buyer to see themselves utilizing the area. There are a few things that can be done here for relatively cheap. You should replace the kitchen faucet set, add new cabinet door handles and update old lighting fixtures with brighter, more energy-efficient ones.
3. The Bathroom
A dull bathroom can be a real turn off. So if your tub and shower are looking a bit dingy, you might want to consider re-grouting and replacing any chipped tiles. You might also want to add new bathroom fixtures that will make the space look brighter and more appealing. You can also do simple things like adding a new toilet seat that are pretty easy for you to install but can make the world of difference.
You don’t need to repaint every room as that can get to be pretty expensive but patching up holes, buffing out scratches, and maybe redoing one or two rooms with help transform the feel of the house. White and off-white walls tend to attract buyers because the neutral palette allows them to focus on the home’s characteristics. They also work well with most furniture so the buyers can see themselves in the space.
5. Curb Appeal
Make sure the lawn is mowed, shrubs are trimmed and the garden is free of weeds. Any house could probably use a good power washing. Follow that up with any paint touch-ups. Prospective buyers are also sure to pay attention to the roof so make sure that it is in good shape.
