Upward Bound House was founded in 1991 as a 501(c)3 organization in Los Angeles county. Our Tax ID is 95-4288926.

The mission of Upward Bound House (UBH) is to eliminate homelessness among families with children in Los Angeles by providing housing, supportive services, and advocacy.

We strive to reduce the number of homeless families with minor children who are hungry and living on the streets of Los Angeles, by helping them access basic resources and successfully transition into their own homes with the capacity to remain there permanently.

Founded in 1996, Alexandria House is a transitional residence and house of hospitality. We provide safe and supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing. Located in the densely populated and ethnically diverse Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, we also serve our broader neighborhood community by providing educational and enrichment opportunities for our neighbors as well as our residents.

In response to the compelling needs of the women and children living in Alexandria House, as well as the neighborhood needs before us each day, our goal is to be a community-oriented transitional house and neighborhood center. We are intentionally multicultural and anti-racist, and the needs of women who are economically poor are at the center of our commitment. We are blessed to be supported by a community of caring individuals and groups who share our mission.

More than 92% of the women who have moved through the Alexandria House program have succeeded in securing financial stability and permanent housing.

P.S. ARTS is dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities. P.S. ARTS is the only organization in Southern and Central California that provides high quality arts education in dance, music, theater, and visual arts to every child in a school during the regular school day and after-school.

Without our programs, children in these underfunded school districts would not have access to the arts. P.S. ARTS also coordinates with school administrators and parent groups to provide community outreach services designed to increase the community’s capacity to advocate for educational equity and to provide critical cultural experiences for the entire family.

P.S. ARTS programs help level the educational playing field by teaching creative and cognitive skills to students struggling to overcome economic, ability, or literacy barriers that will better equip them to be competitive and successful people.

Studies show the arts keep children motivated and engaged, and with the high school dropout rate in Los Angeles County as high as 50% in recent years, the children in our community need the arts now more than ever.

Home-y Made Meals is a network to empower our community to cook, deliver, and nourish those in need. We focus on serving other communities whose resources have been displaced by Covid-19.
